College + goals: making time without burning out

By Yourjyoti · · 5 min read

How do I balance college and learning a new skill?

Stop trying to find free time and start assigning it. Look at your timetable and pick one slot every day, even 45 minutes, that belongs to your goal. Early morning or right after dinner works for most students.

What does a realistic weekly routine look like?

Monday to Friday: one focused session a day on your skill. Saturday: a longer session to build or finish a mini project. Sunday: rest, reflect, and plan the next week in ten minutes.

Exam weeks? Drop to maintenance mode — 15 minutes a day just to keep the habit alive.

How do I know if I'm burning out?

Signs include dreading something you used to enjoy, constant tiredness, and feeling guilty every time you rest. If that's you, scale back for a week. Rest is part of the plan, not a reward you earn later.

What if my family doesn't get what I'm doing?

That's super common. Show, don't argue: share small wins like a finished design or a first client message. Results build trust faster than explanations.
